Are you interested in Volunteering for Events? Do you want to help with one of the Events already on the schedule? Do you want to understand how events get put onto our calendar? Do you have a Venue you want us to schedule an event? This is the Meeting for that!
Our Events Require 4 Things:
1.) Venue & Activity – We all have great ideas for this! Mary has a file that is 17 pages long…
2.) Volunteers to Run it – When we set up a re-occurring event at a local business, it’s easy to set it up for success by working with the owner/manager to have employees help our attendees, however, this isn’t always enough. When an event requires more involvement, like a Party, Social, or Activity that requires direction or coordination, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to make that Event happen. Our entire Board is comprised of Volunteers who all have other jobs and commitments. Our Events can only expand with more people who are willing to commit to this Community as much as we are.
3.) Commitment & Consistency – Before ANY New Event goes onto our Calendar, Our Board requires Commitment from BOTH the Venue & Volunteers for 6 months. That is how long it takes to get a regular group of attendees or organize & advertise one large event.
4.) Financial Viability – We would love to have all our events be free. That does not happen without Sponsors, Grants, or Donations. As a 501c3 all our event costs are Donations to our nonprofit. When events consistently cost more than the donations we receive to provide them, we cannot keep having them. When planning our events, we need to ensure we have enough funds to continue them and cover our operational costs. Our President and Treasurer will assist volunteers in negotiating with local businesses or signing up for Sponsorships.
